Gavin is a Financial Advisor with HSL & Associates and brings over 20 years of Financial and Insurance Industry experience and knowledge to his clients. His diverse background and training enables him to help clients pursue their long-term financial goals through comprehensive, customized financial and insurance planning.  

Gavin is a Dave Ramsey SmartVestor Pro and is a follower of Dave Ramsey’s principles regarding debt and investing (he’s on baby step 4, 5 and 6!).

Helping people, whether it’s helping with monthly budgeting, planning for retirement or simply helping clients make smart money decisions, is truly Gavin’s passion. In addition to developing a custom financial strategy for each client, he conducts regular meetings with clients to review performance, reconfirm financial goals and make adjustments as economic or lifestyle conditions warrant. Gavin is honored that most of his clients call him a “friend” or even “family”.

Gavin graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Arizona. Gavin currently holds the FINRA Series 7, 63, 65, and 24 securities registrations with LPL Financial, LLC as well as numerous state securities and life and health insurance licenses.

Outside of work, Gavin is blessed and proud father to two beautiful girls, Grace (2001) and Claire (2003). Gavin is an active member in The New Centurions and the Scripps Ranch Old Pros.  In his spare time he enjoys golfing, running, snow skiing, camping and enjoying the San Diego beach and sun.

Benson is financial advisor with HSL and Associates, with over 10 years of expertise in the insurance and finance industry.

Benson's primary goal is clear: to help business owners and individuals work toward their financial objectives. With a focus on understanding each client's unique circumstances and aspirations, Benson works closely with them to develop comprehensive financial strategies that pave the way towards their goals.

Benson earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from San Diego State University, providing him with a strong foundation in finance and business management. Additionally, he holds the FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations with LPL Financial, LLC, ensuring he is equipped to provide comprehensive financial guidance. Furthermore, Benson maintains an active life and health insurance license, allowing him to offer a holistic approach to financial planning.

While Benson is passionate about helping clients preserve their financial futures, he also values spending quality time outside of work. You'll often find him cheering on his son as he competes in varsity sports for Rancho Bernardo High School. Additionally, Benson loves traveling to experience various cultures around the world, broadening his horizons and gaining unique insights along the way.  Benson also enjoys immersing himself in nature through hiking and backpacking, finding solace and inspiration amidst the great outdoors.

Mark Erwin serves as the Business Office Manager for HSL & Associates. Mark is a native Tucsonan and loved growing up in the Sonoran Desert. His career began working for a pharmacy savings company and local health plan over the past 17 years. His experience comes from various roles throughout his career as a Project Coordinator, Account Manager and Marketing Coordinator. Nonetheless, he has enjoyed several other aspects of his career from being an amateur videographer, dabbling in graphic design and as a facilitator of the Franklin Covey; 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Currently, Mark predominantly works with our employer groups and their health insurance needs, but is excited to help find solutions to best fit the needs of all HSL & Associates clients.
